COMMISSION DIRECTIVE (EU) 2016/844 of 27 May 2016 amending Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on safety rules and standards for passenger ships (Text with EEA relevance)
THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 100(2) thereof,
Having regard to Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 May 2009 on safety rules and standards for passenger ships (1), and in particular Article 10(2) thereof,
Whereas:

Some of the International Conventions as defined in Article 2(a) of Directive 2009/45/EC have been amended. |

In accordance with Article 10(2) of Directive 2009/45/EC, the Annexes to that Directive can be amended in order to apply the amendments made to the International Conventions. |

Directive 2009/45/EC should therefore be amended accordingly. |

The measures provided for in this Directive are in accordance with the opinion of the Committee on Safe Seas and the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (‘COSS’), established pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 2099/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council (2), |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DIRECTIVE:
Article 1
Annex I to Directive 2009/45/EC is amended in accordance with the Annex to this Directive.
Article 2
1. Member States shall bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with this Directive by 1 July 2017. They shall forthwith communicate to the Commission the text of those provisions.
When Member States adopt those provisions, they shall contain a reference to this Directive or be accompanied by such a reference on the occasion of their official publication. Member States shall determine how such reference is to be made.
2. Member States shall communicate to the Commission the text of the main provisions of national law which they adopt in the field covered by this Directive.
Article 3
This Directive shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Article 4
This Directive is addressed to the Member States.
